I started going to WolMed on February 9th. When I got here, I was in bad shape. I could not stand up straight on a walker and cane. After two surgeries and a lot of determination, I now stand solid, but I want everyone to know because of Dr. Ed Wolski and all the staff including: Jeff, Sharon, and Justin. Kristen, helping me.
I made it. The staff at WolMed is the most loving and caring people I know and I thank Dr. Ed Wolski for his caring heart.
Thanks to all. Love y’all. Will miss everyone.
When I started the pain management program I felt as though this program was designed to benefit the clinic (WolMed). As I started working the program, utilizing the staff, and started caring for my well being, I took on the attitude that I and no one else could make me better. Group therapy and one on one counseling gave me a lot of hope. Depressed about the quality of life, I had to make decision that were best for my self and my family. Physically, I know I will not be the same as I was before my injury but I have tools now that will help me get through my daily activities. Thanks to WolMed I am able to reach some goals in my life and face challenges head on. I am grateful for the time I spent here and will always have a love in my heart for this place.
Unless you have experienced chronic back pain at a pain level of eight to ten on a scale of one to ten, you can’t imagine what it feels like to wake up in the morning and have NO backache whatsoever. I am happy to report that I know that feeling.
I am a spinal cord injury from an automobile accident in December of 1973. I am one of God’s miracles to be ambulatory even though I have all the other things that go along with the spinal cord injury. Just about three years ago, I started experiencing the chronic debilitating back pain. There was just a little relief from chiropractic adjustment and massage therapy. The relief was very short lived.
Thanks to the pain management program at Wolmed, I am actually pain free for the most part. If I “overdo”, I can be back to severe pain. I am still trying to figure out the point of “overdoing”. I have been able to throw away the narcotic pain medication. I don’t need my cane. There has been a side benefit of losing 30 pounds. I feel so much better physically that has translated to feeling so much better about me.
Starting the program was not easy as I was pretty much sedentary with the pain. The second and third week of therapy I was wondering if I was going to reap any benefits from the program. The fourth week is when everything came together. Was I ever surprised! I was hoping that the pain level would get to at least a five. Pain free is considerably better than a pain level of five.
The physical therapy, water therapy, occupational therapy, and group therapy all played a key role in the success of my program. The staff is well trained, professional, and there to keep you motivated, moving, and to deal with any issues you may be having.
Thank you so much, Dr. Wolski and staff, for giving me a second chance in life. I promise to keep up what I learned and to live as well as I can.
The program has helped me considerably with my strength and conditioning. I am able to continue making the “dream catchers” I provide to D.C.C.A.C. for the abused children. This is a very important part of my life.
While I understand that I will probably be in pain the rest of my life, WolMed has helped me understand how to deal with it a lot better.
Thank you doc and all your staff.
I had a good time working out every day with the other people and staff. I hope I can find myself a part-time job to get out of the house and back into the work force. This has been good for me.
On June 14, 2012, I suffered an on the job injury, resulting in partial amputation of two fingers of my right hand.
I had surgery that morning and went home in bandages and pain.
After a few weeks at home, I received acute therapy at a facility near here. They did a lot of good to me until my wound healed.
My company made me go back to work at Goodwill, hanging light clothing on a hanger. It was doing me no good and in fact kept me from self-therapy in my shop.
My surgeon was informed and he sent me up to work hardening at WolMed. The rest is history.
This program is so thorough and successful I can’t believe it! I think it is what you make of it and between myself and the professional staff, I made it!

I went through chronic pain management program in 2011. I was able to stop heavy narcotics due to my work injury through the councelling and techniques taught to me in the program. I was able to find supplemental work to augment my income. The group councelling really helped me a lot and it got me on the right track with my life and priorities. The program is great and I highly recomend it for any and all typed of chronic pain from injuries.
To all the doctors and staff at WolMed I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me a fresh start. I arrived with so much pain and walking with a cane. I am now cane free thanks to them. Thank you everyone for bringing my smile back.
It is a blessing to meet people at WOLMED who are encouraging, who inspire hope and have a passion in helping patients recover. It has been a challenge for me to get out of bed and endure the pain for however length of time due to my chronic back pain and allergies.
I have learned through therapy and the pain management program through good diet, exercise, doing the things i can do, enjoying life, family, friends, laughing and relaxing really helps place my pain aside and deal with issues at hand.
I now can face my challenges in a different light. Now I’m actually motivated with a smile to start the day. I know there is always hope and a better way of living by doing it. Living!
I intend to pursue happiness (in Jesus name). Love, laugh, live and work with a passion, pay all my creditors and relax.
Special thanks to Jeffrey. I am not afraid to walk the distance. To my Consuelo for listening, giving good advice, and my doctors for believeing and caring and Louise for compassion and helpful advice. Thank you WOLMED!
We are happy to share with you this letter from a recent patient, and how the WOLMED Pain Management Program was successful for them.
Bruce came to WOLMED in pain and unable to complete normal everyday tasks. The worst part for him was not being able to create the wonderful Dream Catchers he makes for the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center. Making the Dream Catchers was a huge part of his life and his way of helping the abused children.
Through our Pain Management Program we were able to help Bruce live with the pain, and increase his strength so that he can continue to work with his charity. We don’t always get the opportunity to see how our work affects our patient’s lives, but we want to thank Bruce for his determination and his willingness to give us a glimpse on how he Pays it Forward.
Recently, WolMed has become aware of the many places on the internet that patients can go to and rate their doctors. The majority of things said about WolMed doctors is very positive, and even enthusiastic in many cases. Unfortunately, these sites are not able to verify that comments were made by actual patients of the doctor they are rating, or that the ratings are based on actual experiences with the doctors. Nevertheless, the feedback can be very valuable.
One website that allows people to rate doctors uses a 4-star system. Here, Dr. Wolski is rated very favorably, especially from people who we have been able to verify as actual patients of WolMed. There was also a bad review on there by a person who we were able to identify as someone who never had an experience with WolMed because they were never a patient here. So, to be fair to anyone who is interested in getting actual, true feedback from people who have actually been patients at WolMed, we did our own study using the same parameters as those used on the web.
Here’s what we found from a survey of 32 active WolMed patients. Patients were asked to rate the doctor on a 5 point scale where 5 is excellent and 1 is bad.
Ease of Appointment – 4.93 out of 5.
Courteous Staff – 4.93 out of 5.
Accurate Diagnosis – 4.93 out of 5.
Follow Up – 4.9 out of 5.
Bedside Manner – 4.84 out of 5.
Spends Time With Me – 4.75 out of 5
As you can see, actual patients at WolMed are very happy with the doctors and staff at WolMed. Now, take a look at the enthusiastic feedback these patients gave us.
Margaret is so wonderful! She takes time to listen and makes you feel comfortable in the process.
